The story behind the cup
The Quilts of Valor Foundation was founded in 2003 by Blue Star mother Catherine Roberts. She literally had a dream and in her words:
I saw a young man sitting on the side of his bed in the middle of
the night, hunched over. The permeating feeling was one of utter
despair. I could see his war demons clustered around, dragging
him down into an emotional gutter. Then, as if viewing a movie, I
saw him wrapped in a quilt. His whole demeanor changed from one
of despair to one of hope and well-being. The quilt allowed this
dramatic change. The message of my dream: Quilts = Healing.
Our Mission: to cover all Service Members and Veterans touched by war with a comforting and healing Quilt of Valor®. Since the first award in November 2003, we’ve wrapped over a quarter-million recipients touched by war.
Each Quilt of Valor is handmade, stitched with love, and tears, of the makers. Our 10,000+ members and groups have sew days where we gather to make kits, blocks, tops and do other tasks related to the quilt making process. We need our SEW DAZE coffee, both with and without lead, to keep us energized to make more QOVs and wrap those touched by war.
Visit us at www.QOVF.org to find out more, nominate your favorite Service Member or Veteran or locate a local group. We would be honored to wrap your nominee. The ability to sew is NOT a requirement to participate - we have many ways you can contribute and share the passion of our Mission.
Recommendation: We recommend ordering whole bean coffee for maximum freshness and flavor. Ground coffee starts to oxidize and age, resulting in a flat flavor. Customer satisfaction is not guaranteed for ground coffee.
