Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTIONS
Our Coffee
Are your coffees Fair Trade Certified?
Our coffee buyers proudly place a great amount of emphasis on quality and sustainability, both from an environmental and economic standpoint.
We purchase a number of coffees from Fair Trade certified cooperatives; however, many producers decide it’s in their best financial interest to channel their resources toward continued advances in quality and sustainability instead of the expensive process of certification. We like to factor a producer’s efforts toward greater quality as well as environmental and economic responsibility into our purchasing decisions, regardless of their certification status.
Moving forward, it is our intention not only to maintain, but to expand our efforts to search for the best sustainable coffees the world has to offer.
What brew methods do you recommend?
We source and roast beans that have great versatility across many devices, so the right method often comes down to personal preference. However, we added a suggested brewing method section to every Ubora Coffee bag in our website. In addition, to help with whichever method you choose, we have a variety of resources for your brewing edification.
Our Brewing Guides cover a variety of brew methods in detail.
There are also a number of excellent articles on our blog, covering a number of brewing methods.
As always, we're also available through YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook to answer questions, give tips, and provide support. We’re happy to get help you tune your brewing setup!
Why we do not recommend pre-ground coffee bags?
All of the coffee we offer is whole bean coffee. One of the most important variables in producing a great cup of coffee is getting the grind right, which is best to do right before brewing. The minute you grind your coffee, it starts to oxidize which accelerates the aging process. We think freshly ground coffee will give you the best possible coffee experience and make your fresh coffee keep better.
How should I store my coffee?
“Freshness is key and coffee’s full awesomeness is fleeting.” We recommend using coffee within 20 days after it is roasted (printed on every one of our bags). In our experience, the distinct and complex flavors that characterize our coffees will tend to fade after that point.
We recommend storing coffee in a cool, dry place, away from heat and light, in its original packaging, or an airtight container.
The levels of moisture present in the refrigerator and freezer can greatly accelerate flavor loss. We don't recommend storing beans in the refrigerator and can only recommend storage in the freezer under specific circumstances (namely long term, uninterrupted periods).
Do you have Decaf?
Yes! Our Single Origin Colombia | La Encantadora DECAF works well in both espresso and filter preparations. We offer it as a single bag purchase from our shop and as its own subscription.
Check out our Brewing Guides for tips on how to get the most from our Colombian Decaf!

Is shipping included?
When purchasing coffee or merchandise from the web store, shipping is figured dynamically, based on weight and destination, and is added at checkout. The reason behind this philosophy, is that the average per item shipping cost will be reduce as you add more items to your order. We believe in transparency, part of that is for you to see exactly how much goes into shipping. We do not believe in marking up our prices in order to offer "Free Shipping"
When will my merchandise ship?
Most Brewing equipment and merchandise orders ship out in 1-2 days.
What shipping method are available for brewing equipment and merchandise?
Our standard shipping option for brewing equipment and merchandise uses USPS Priority for smaller orders and UPS Ground for larger orders.
USPS Priority has an estimated shipping time of 1-3 days, while UPS Ground estimates 1–5 days.
Our expedited shipping option uses UPS 2nd Day Air for both large and small items.
Can I delay shipment of my order?
Ubora Coffee subscriptions can be paused and set to automatically resume on a specific date.
